Boo! It’s Halloween preparations’ season. Long gone are the days of typical trick-or-treating and dressing up to impress neighbors, however amazing those days were. People are exploring new, exciting ways to celebrate the Halloween season. Whether you prefer doing outdoor activities, hosting a party, or getting a little crafty, there are plenty of things to do differently this year.

Fun Activities to Do During the Halloween Season

1. Make your own version of a horror movie

Yes, you read that correctly. All of us have movie preferences, especially when it comes to horror and thriller films. Even if sometimes we don’t have it in us to watch the entire thing, we sure know the decor, as the case with Scream, The Purge and Annabelle. The list really goes on. This Halloween you and your friends and family can opt for a dramatic twist for a change.

Create your own horror movies which are inspired by classics, or totally made up. Use whatever resources you have on hand: mobile phones, crazy wigs, torches, etc. For music scores, turn to YouTube and SoundCloud; go for mobile editing apps for the special effects.

2. Try out ghost hunting, Ghostbuster style

This is probably the most creative option to go for. Halloween-themed treasure or ghost hunting is a great way to make use of a local park or a walking route. These hunts can be as elaborate and creative as you possibly want.

From the decorations, costumes, to equipment, If you need more inspiration, a thorough  read through the blog Professional Ghost Hunting Equipment – A Comprehensive List (2019) will help you better prepare yourself for the next Halloween hunt. Once you’ve got all the elements right, start preparing the scenario. Create the clues, the traps and a couple of surprises to keep everybody on their toes.

3. Make Halloween-styled decorations

Using whatever you have lying around, plus, a set of watercolors and a couple of pumpkins, to create wonders. Encourage your siblings and kids to carve pumpkins or make the timeless pumpkin lanterns. You can also arrange spooky elements and silhouettes all over the house and the backyard.

4. Throw an authentic Halloween party

It’s not really the Halloween season unless you go to – or perhaps throw your own – party. The two things to focus on are the outfits and decorations. If you decide to join your friends to a party, make sure you put on your spookiest or most attractive costume. Steer clear from Sputnik-inspired outfits. Friends fandom will relate.

However, if you host your own party, we strongly recommend that you go for crazy fluorescent drinks and blacklights from the ‘80s to catch that Halloween vibe as best as you can.

Halloween is a classic celebration, and it’s unlikely to go out of style anytime soon; So are your celebrations. If you were brought up on memories of trick-or-treats and the smell of candy cakes, don’t shy away from recreating those delicious memories with your siblings and friends.

So, whether you’re into the decor or costumes, partying or food, make sure you integrate friends and family members in the process. Always aim to plan out something that everybody will enjoy.
